Mancala Strategy - Control the Last Seed
Kalah has no hidden information: the last seed’s landing decides the position.
Count the last seed
Trace the entire sowing route before you choose a pit. A final seed in your store keeps initiative, while an empty home pit can create a capture.
Build store turns
Use pits whose count lands exactly in your store to play again before the opponent changes the board. Chain an extra turn into another store landing, a capture, or a safer shape.
Make captures expensive
The opposite pit matters. A capture is strongest when it collects a full opposite pit, not merely because a capture exists.
Calculate the sweep
Do not empty your row just because you can. The game then ends and both remaining rows sweep to stores, so compare the totals first.
